Geri and early career researchers or academics

In our experience, many early career researchers have not benefited from engagement capability development to help them to get funded, unlock the potential of research, open up promotion and career options, and make a difference in the world.

Geri’s 3Ds approach (demystify, diagnose, develop) helps early career researchers:

  • Adopt a more strategic, purposeful approach to engagement

  • Better position ideas and research to attract funding

  • Open up research and career opportunities

  • Gain insights which enhance and inform research and/or teaching

  • Achieve engagement outcomes that people value

  • Take advantage of engagement and impact trends

  • Gain a common language for engagement and engagement capability development

  • Play to their strengths, and grow capabilities that matter

  • Better mentor, support and lead others.

Case - University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne runs a program called the ‘Melbourne Academy’ for early career researchers, exposing participating individuals from across the university to insights, guest speakers and professional development across various topics. For the past two years, workshops using the Geri approach have been integrated as part of this program.

Provided a completely different perspective, which I think will be very valuable for my career. Very useful.

This is mind opening. Thinking about social impact is an area of weakness for me and it’s great to see the big picture, realising that the landscape is really changing.
