Design of university-wide engagement capability development program

Engaged by leading ‘Group of Eight’ university to design an institution-wide capability program, building from an earlier pilot using the Geri framework. The scope of work included extensive internal and external consultation, informing the design of a multi-dimensional program, primarily for academic leaders and staff at all levels. By design the proposed program addressed issues of visibility and scaleability, was informed by leading practice, recognised the university’s context and developed specific offerings (e.g. across engagement domains, and capability areas).

Design and delivery of training for ARC Research Centre

Engaged by the ARC Centre for Green Manufacturing to design and deliver 2 days of training for PhD candidates/early career research from 4 academic institutions.

PhD training as part of the Monash doctoral program

For the past 3 years, we have provided multi-format professional development using the Geri circumplex and approach as part of Monash University’s doctoral program. This program has been offered under the headings of ‘Unlocking Your Research Potential’ and ‘Unlocking Your Career Potential’.

Design of a new PhD capability framework

Engaged by a leading Australian University to develop its new PhD capability framework for all disciplines. The scope of work included internal and external consultations with partners and end users, academics, professional staff and graduate research students.

Facilitation of academic and faculty leaders on engagement-related topics

We have facilitated and delivered a range of sessions for academic leaders at all levels, often informed by the Geri approach and circumplex. Examples include sessions for academic leaders at the University of Melbourne’s School of Engineering, sessions for academic leaders and visiting professors at Monash University and an industry engagement seminar for the Australian Council of Deans of Science.

Speaking at conferences and forums

We have spoken at a variety of conferences and forums, in Australia and overseas, on engagement-related matters. Examples include, a masterclass for Monash University’s Amplify Your Impact conference on ‘Communicating your Research Value’, being invited by Wiley to speak at a future of publishing conference and speaking at institutions overseas.
