Geri and HR, engagement and researcher development

Geri provides a scaleable solution to engagement capability development. It can be used to inform or design internal processes, frameworks, assessments or programs; or as stand-alone Geri-branded training, tools and materials.

Geri’s 3Ds approach (demystify, diagnose, develop) helps individuals and teams:

  • Gain a common language and framework for engagement and engagement capability development

  • Across people management and decision-making

    • Training and professional development

    • Candidate/recruitment screening, informing executive search

    • Performance lifecycle (informing appointment and promotion processes, goal setting guidance, development conversations, mentoring, performance reviews and talent programs)

    • Change management (eg. new precinct capability development)

  • Scale as appropriate (one off sessions / interventions, integrated approach)

  • Able to audit / assess existing PD offerings against Geri capabilities areas, and prioritise taking into account faculty / other stakeholder strategy and human capital needs

  • Easily overlay university, faculty, team and individual context.

Case - Design of a university wide engagement capability development program

Engaged by leading ‘Group of Eight’ university to design an institution-wide capability program, building from an earlier pilot using the Geri framework. The scope of work included extensive internal and external consultation, informing the design of a multi-dimensional program, primarily for academic leaders and staff at all levels. The designed program addressed issues of visibility and scaleability, was informed by leading practice, recognised the university’s context and developed specific offerings (e.g. across engagement domains, and capability areas).

Case - Geri professional development for researchers

For the past 3 years, we have provided multi-format professional development using the Geri circumplex and approach as part of Monash University’s doctoral program. This program has been offered under the headings of ‘Unlocking Your Research Potential’ and ‘Unlocking Your Career Potential’.

Case - Informing executive search and recruitment decisions

The Geri capability framework has been used to inform the identification and screening of potential appointees to roles where engagement-related capabilities are recognised as being important.
